Nick Simmons Cross-Endorsed by Connecticut Independent Party
Nick Simmons: “I’m excited to share a big milestone for our campaign today! The Independent Party of Connecticut has officially cross-endorsed me, making me the first Democrat in the history of Senate District 36 to earn this honor. This isn’t just a win for our team—it’s a big step toward a future where we work together across party lines for the best interests of everyone in our community.
Raised by a moderate Republican dad and a liberal Democratic mom, I’ve always believed in the power of seeing all sides and working together. That’s why this endorsement means so much—it’s proof that when we focus on what really matters, we can get the support we need to make real changes.
Chip Beckett, the chair of the Independent Party, shared in the Greenwich Times that while the endorsement process was competitive in our district, it ultimately wasn’t a close call. That means they see the value in what we’re trying to achieve. And Chip, referencing my goal of making the State Senate more effective, added, ‘Our big thing is good government and access and transparency in government. Hartford certainly could use a dose of that.’ I look forward to bringing these goals into reality while in the State Senate.
As someone born and raised in Connecticut, and now raising my own son here, I’m all-in on making sure our state is a great place to live and grow. This endorsement brings us closer to that goal, by showing that it’s possible to come together for common purposes like lower taxes, better infrastructure, and securing women’s rights and reproductive freedom.”
