Protecting Our Coastlines from Flooding

Climate change presents a significant threat to our towns. Nearly half of all the homes in Old Greenwich, Tod’s Point and Byram are at risk for severe flooding. Leaders must find solutions to protect our communities and coastline. This will require tens of millions of dollars to safeguard our coastline and critical infrastructure from severe weather and flooding.

But shoring up our defenses against climate change won’t be enough. We need to actively reduce carbon emissions via smart energy solutions that can grow our economy and lower costs for consumers. Nick understands Connecticut’s potential to be a leader in the global shift toward a clean energy economy. While serving in the Lamont Administration, Nick helped lead initiatives to develop the New London pier as a national offshore wind hub.

Nick Cares about the EnvironmentConnecticut stands at the forefront of an economic opportunity to lead the national clean energy transition. Our state’s deep water ports and top-tier educational and workforce systems position are unique advantages. We are well positioned to invest in battery technology, hydrogen hubs, and electric charging infrastructure.

Through smart investments and targeted subsidies, we can reduce energy costs for families while simultaneously seizing economic opportunities. This will create thousands of new jobs while actively combating climate change.
